Located in Snagov, Romania, the Monastery Complex is a place of worship for the monks of the Order of Barefoot Carmelites – a contemplative monk order known for its austerity. It has been desired to be a concept – inspired from the Romanian traditional architecture but reconsidered, modernized and adapted to current needs.
This unique modernist home was designed in 1969 by revered Bulgarian architect Iwan Iwanoff.
Bought in November 1999, this very special family home belongs now to design enthusiasts and avid collectors Mark and Christine Baxter and their thirteen year old daughter Aisha.
Nicolas Schubroek was named as one of the 100 best interior designers by the French magazine Architectural Digest in the 2013 Collector Issue.
The magazine enlisted interior architects, but also architects who create projects from A to Z. That nomination was a complete surprise and a big honor for him.
